Character of the Month: Izuku Midoriya

Image
Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!  I know this month’s Character of the Month comes a bit unannounced, but I’ve been busy with grad school assignments and an upcoming family event.  But more on that later.  Anywho, this month’s Character of the Month comes from, well, the only anime that I reviewed this month.  Still, considering all the praise that this show has received, I don’t think it’s any surprise that this character nabbed the title.  So let’s talk about this month’s Character of the Month, Izuku Midoriya from My Hero Academia . Izuku has always dreamed of becoming a super hero.  Unfortunately for him, in a world where a large percentage of the human race develops a quirk (the series’ term for super power), Izuku falls in with the humans that never develop one.  Despite this and the bullying he has to deal with from other peers, Izuku refuses to give up.  He even applies to the top super hero school to make a point.  But after he grabs the attention of the world’s greatest su

The Scarlett Johansson Debate: Which Side Am I On?

Ok, so maybe I’m a little late jumping into the conversation on this issue.  On the other hand, some might not think very highly of me for getting involved with this issue.  But after watching a video on this debate, I figured I’d put my two cents in. So for those of you who are not aware, it has been announced a while back that a live-action adaptation of the classic Ghost In the Shell will be hitting theaters sometime next year and has casted well known American actress Scarlett Johansson as Major Mokoto Kusanagi.  The Internet has also been kind enough to leak an image from the film earlier this year of Johanson in costume.  That’s where the problem starts.  This image has caused a lot of debate on the casting of Johansson amongst fans of the franchise and many otakus alike.  Much of the disapproval is getting most of the attention. Why is this Happening? While I think that there are plenty of reasons why this is causing such a big stir with everyone, there is one theor

New Changes for Hanime on Anime!

Come one, come all!  After my blunder from last week, I’ve finally made the post that you all have been waiting for (sort of)!  I hinted at it last week and the week before, but I’ve made some changes to Hanime on Anime that I think will be better for the site and more entertaining and enjoyable for readers.  So gather around children, and come see what’s different! 1.      New rating system! So this was something that many of you might have noticed last week with my review on My Hero Academia .  Since Hanime on Anime’s beginnings, I’ve been using a “five star rating” system to rate how well an anime show or movie is.  In recent months, I’ve felt that this was an inaccurate way of doing this and that it didn’t truly reflect what I feel about a show or movie.  That’s where this change comes in.  Since using it for last week’s review, all of my reviews will be done using a “1 Through 10” system.  It’s pretty self-explanitory; I rate an anime on a scale of one through ten.  I h

I Need a Hero! : My Hero Academia

Hello, peoples!  Now before I begin, I know I had announced last Sunday that I would be doing an announcement post about some changes being made to Hanime on Anime.  But, uh…that post has yet to make its debut.  I’ll explain that later.  Till then, let’s kick this first Sunday of June off with a review on one of the hottest shows of the spring season, if not the year.  I saw this new show a few weeks back and can certainly understand why it’s gotten the hype that it has.  So let’s get right to this week’s review on My Hero Academia ! The story of My Hero Academia is set in a world where a large percentage of the human race is able to develop super powers, often known as “quirks.”  This opens up an awesome and epic career field: being a superhero.  Main protagonist Izuku Midoriya has always dreamed of becoming a hero.  Unfortunately, he never developed a quirk.  Even so, this doesn’t stop him from keeping his dream alive and even goes so far as to apply to the most prestigious scho
