Character of the Month of January: Saitama

Image
Hello, fellow followers!  January is starting to circle the drain, and that means it’s time for Character of the Month!  This month’s first Character of the Month for 2016 was definitely a no-brainer.  This character blew the rest of the competition away, or should I say, punched it all away (I know, lame pun).  That’s right, this month’s title went to none other than the One Punch Man himself, Saitama! One Punch Man ’s main protagonist is one of the most powerful men on Earth.  Able to defeat foes with just a single punch, this self-made super hero draws attention near and far in some pretty outrageous battles.  However, because of this ability, Saitama finds himself in a rut; his ease at beating even the largest of opponents leaves him bored and constantly waiting for someone more challenging.  However, based on what I’ve seen so far-plus one or two little trailers for the show-, I don’t think Saitama will have to wait very long for the perfect opponent to come along. I’ll adm

I Choose…A Pokémon Movie?: Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages

Greetings, peoples!  I’m back once again for another review.  And I’m pretty sure this week’s film on the chopping block has caught your attention.  I have to admit, it’s against my nature to review anything related to Pokémon,.  But after I saw it’s television premier back in December, I made an exception for this one because I thought, “Why not?”-Plus, a lot of great things came out of Pokémon besides Pikachu.  Anyways, it’s not a secret anymore, so let’s get going with this week’s review on Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages .  In the eighteenth installment of the Pokémon film series, Ash and his XY companions-Serena, Clemont, and Bonnie-reach Dahara City.  While on a break at a Pokémon Center, Ash and Pikachu encounter a strange new Pokémon named Hoopa, who is capable of transporting people and Pokémon (both legendary and not) through hoops attached to its body.  Not long after Hoopa plays around with Ash and Pikachu, one of Hoopa’s guardians Mirai arrives and he

The Bum, the Robot, and all the Feels: Plastic Memories

Greetings, people of Earth!  I’m back again this week with another brand new review fresh from well, my computer.  This week’s show was a little different than most of the shows I’ve reviewed in recent weeks, and that’s mostly because it’s one of the few drama shows I’ve reviewed in a while.  Still, this was one worthwhil.  So enough rambling and let’s get to reviewing this week’s latest pick, Plastic Memories . Set in a future where humans and special androids called Giftas live side by side, Plastic Memories focuses on the SAI Corp’s Terminal Services department and its latest employee Tsukasa Mizugaki.  Having recently been employed at Terminal Services, Tsukasa quickly learns that the department’s job is to retrieve Giftas who have reached their expiration (the average lifespan of a Gifta is about nine years) and take their memories.  He is soon partnered with a Gifta and long-time veteran of Terminal Services named Isla.  However, Tsukasa finds that working with Isla is not

One-Hit Wonder: One Punch Man

Hello, hello, hello!  It’s a new year and a new month, and that means it’s time for a brand new review!  To kick off the first Sunday of the new year, I’ll be reviewing one of the hottest shows of the fall 2015 season.  Some people may call it a knock-out-no pun intended-, but I wanted to get a crack at it first before I could say the same.  So enough beating around the bush and let’s get on with this week’s and 2016’s first review on One Punch Man . In the fictional city of City Z, Saitama is a super hero able of defeating villains and giant monsters with just one punch.  But because of his overwhelming strength, Saitama finds himself bored and waiting for a stronger opponent to come along.  However, his power does draw him some attention, both good and bad.  And after gaining an ally in the teenage cyborg Genos, Saitama finds himself in more trouble than he thought.  Still, it shouldn’t be that hard to handle for the most powerful man in the world. I’ll admit, I haven’t delved t

Character of the Year 2015 has been Chosen!!

Howdy howdy, folks!  This blogger has reached a verdict and Character of the Year has been chosen!  But before l get to that, I will admit, I may have lied when I said that there were no other changes made to the Character of the Year event.  Well, I did make a few changes as of late.  But for now, I’ll keep you all from waiting any longer. Hanime on Anime’s Character of 2015 goes to… Tetsuo Shima ( Akira ) That’s right!  This year’s title goes to this eighties teen that took Character of the Month in Flashback February.  I will admit, I was a little obsessed with Akira last year.  But with good reason; it’s a fantastic film worthy of being a classic of not only anime films, but in animated films.  And Tetsuo is definitely no exception to this honor.  Although he’s considered the villain for the most part, he is more or less the major focal point of the film and a key player in the overall story of Akira .  Let it not be said that it’s Tetsuo who made psychic powers look
