What Should have Happened to Evangelion

Image
Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!   Hopefully everyone reading this has been having a fabulous week so far!   If not, well maybe this post will help a little bit.   As I stated this past Sunday, September will be an entire month dedicated to Neon Genesis Evangelion with reviews on all of the Rebuild films as well as some Evangelion -themed Talkative Thursday posts in between.   Even though it’s not September yet, today’s post will be an intro to the event.   I’ll be taking a look at the entire franchise and discussing how I thought it should have played out.   And before you say anything, yes, I’m ripping off the YouTube channel “How it Should have Ended” to some degree.   While I will be talking about how Evangelion should have ended, I’ll primarily be talking about how I thought the series should have gone in terms of story and characters.   Also as I said on Sunday, I’m hoping that this is a segment of Hanime on Anime that I can continue in the near future.   Plus, I actually e

Character of the Month: Hana

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!  Welcome to the last Sunday of August, which means it’s time to unveil this month’s Character of the Month.  And in all honesty, this month’s pick was pretty easy.  After watching the anime film she stared in, I knew it had to be her.   Well, I guess you’ve already figured out who this month’s winner is, so let’s just get right into it.  Let’s talk about this month’s Character of the Month of August, Hana from Wolf Children . I’ll be as brief as I can with a synopsis here given it’s a movie.  Hana, once a well to-do college student, falls in love with a man who turns out to be a wolf.  The two have a blossoming romance and eventually welcome two children, Yuki and Ame.  However, when her lover dies unexpectedly, Hana is left to care for her two children on her own.  Much of Wolf Children from that point onward shows Hana’s struggles and triumphs as she raises her unique little kids.  And as short as that is, that’s all you really need to know about

Top 5 Things Tokyo Ghoul √A got Right

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!   Thursday is here and, as promised, I’m here to talk more about the Tokyo Ghoul franchise.   Well, actually, I’ll be talking about a part of the franchise, and thankfully it isn’t Tokyo Ghoul re: .   I mentioned towards the end of my review on re:   that it surprised me that Tokyo Ghoul √ A gets a bad rep for being one of the worst anime sequels.   Admittedly, I gave a pretty positive review of the show when I reviewed it two years ago.   There was some good entertainment to be had   as well as the continuation of a great concept in the series despite the plot holes and decisions made by the characters that made no sense.   And in all honesty, even now, there are still some things that I genuinely loved about this reputably awful second season… which leads me into this week’s topic.   If you all remember my “Top 5 Things Wrong with Akira” post back in January, I took an amazing anime film, picked it apart, and discussed elements of the film that I th

Ugh…I’m not gonna lie, ladies and gentlemen, I didn’t like this show.  Well, really, it wasn’t so much that I didn’t like it; it’s more that it just made me angry, so much so that I now have a love-hate relationship with the franchise.  And right now, I’m on the hateful side of that relationship.  And before I go into this review, I’m going to admit that I have not read or seen any reactions to this spin-off.  I have seen a video explaining what’s going on, but I already knew what was going on anyways so I felt it was redundant.  Even so, the lack of reviews I’ve heard so far may be a good sign that I won’t be stepping on any toes.  But anyways, let’s start this week’s review on Tokyo Ghoul re:. Two years after the massive three-way fight between the CCG, Anteiku, and later Aogiri Tree, the CCG has gained control on taking out ghouls once again as the only organization responsible for taking out ghouls.  Among one of the latest members is Haise Sasaki, squad captain of the Qui

Orphen Black Magic: Orphen

Greetings ladies and gentlemen and welcome back to another wonderful Sunday with an awesome review from yours truly!   This week, I decided to look at a show that I think is a little obscure amongst anime fans, but has been a show that I’ve enjoyed so far.   I heard about this show after binge watching countless videos of English voice over actor panels at cons and was surprised to find a copy of the entire series for sale while on my trip to MechaCon.   From there…well let’s get started with the review and go from there.   So sit back, relax, and enjoy this week’s review on Orphen (its actual name is Sorcerous Stabber Orphen , but I’m going just going to call it Orphen for the review). In this mid to late 90’s anime series, Orpehn is a sorcerer often known for being blunt and a bit cocky, but is nonetheless very powerful and well versed.   He lives in a small town with his apprentice Majic where everything is peaceful, until he meets Cleao Everlasting.   In possession of a magi

My Problem with the Anime Community

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen…you’re probably wondering what this week’s Talkative Thursday will be on just by reading the title.  Well, for those who are, in light of the fact I’ve just gotten back from a con last weekend, I thought it would be the perfect time to address (maybe even vent) some controversies that are anime related.  And much of that stems from those who enjoy anime themselves.  But before I get to the heart of that, let me make one thing clear: I LOVE ANIME! I made this point clear in my very first post on Hanime on Anime; watching anime is not just a hobby, it’s a passion.  And that still rings true today!  Plus, I love going to conventions where I have the chance to meet the creators and talent that bring some of my favorite shows to life, and of course indulge in all the Japanese pop culture I can. More importantly, I also love talking to all different kinds of people from so many different backgrounds who come together to celebrate their love of anime.  But w
