Character of the Month of December: Uno

Image
Season’s greetings, everyone!  December has come to a short close this year, so it’s time to unveil this month’s, and this year’s final, Character of the Month.  So if you hadn’t read last week’s review, this month’s character will be from Nanbaka .  And I’ll admit, I chose my favorite from the show, so maybe I was a little biased.  I’ll let you be the judge of that.  So without further adieu, let’s talk a little about this month’s character: Uno! Since I just reviewed Nanbaka , here’s a brief rundown of the series:  Nanbaka follows four prisoners of the infamous Nanba Prison and their antics behind the prison’s walls.  Uno, one of the four prisoners, is a gambler and more or less of a womanizer.  Originally arrested for running an illegal casino, he would break out of prison just so he could go out with women.  When he came to Nanba Prison, he stopped trying to escape because he didn’t receive any dates.  Yeah…that about covers it. Sure, Uno was my favorite character in Nanbaka

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it happened again… Another missed Sunday with no alert whatsoever.  Before I start with this month’s first post, I have some news to share.  Lately, things have been very difficult for me emotionally the past several weeks.  Granted, grad school stuff aside, I got a new job some odd months ago and moved into my own place.  All great things.  Still, there’s been a lot of emotional problems in between that.  Some days I’m so distressed that I can’t even look at my computer and type.  I don’t have any definitive answers, but I believe that I have depression.  As many of you are aware, I have Asperger’s syndrome, a high functioning form of autism.  Depression is something that is often attributed to being autistic.  That’s why I believe I’m depressed.  I am seeing help very soon and I’ll hopefully have some answers.  I didn’t necessarily need to discuss this, but I believe that I owe all of you an explanation for why I’ve been missing so many posts.  Anyways, o

Character of the Month of November: Toyohisa Shimazu

Well, I got some esplainin’ to do.  So for my regular readers, yes, I took last Sunday off and skipped last week’s post.  However, it was for a good reason and, for once, not related to homework.  I won’t go into details, but let’s just say that I’ll have a little more room and privacy to get things done (blog-related and otherwise).  But given that I missed the opportunity to say this last week, I want to take a minute to say that I hope all of my American readers had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  And I am grateful for each one of you who takes the time to check out my blog!  Anyways, back to this week.  I only had one show to review during the month of November, so I was pretty limited in my choice of characters.  Not only that, it was hard to pick between three really awesome characters.  But in the end, I went with my gut.  So let’s talk a little bit about this month’s Character of the Month: Toyohisa Shimazu from Drifters ! During the Battle of Sekigahara, general of the Shimazu

Drifted Away: Drifters

Howdy, howdy folks!  This week I’m back with a review on a show that I have been very excited about seeing as well as reviewing.  Granted, I wanted to save this review for later in the month, but because I’ve been swamped with grad school the past few weeks, doing a discussion post would have been killer for me.  Don’t get me wrong, despite that I’ll be doing this a little sooner than expected, I really am excited about this week’s review.  And that’s more or less due to the fact that I’m a die-hard Hellsing fan.  So if you haven’t figured it out by now, then let’s get on with this week’s review of Drifters. The series opens up at the Battle of Segikahara.  After emerging victorious in battle, Toyohisa Shimazu finds himself severely injured and on the brink of death.  Suddenly, he stumbles into a strange white corridor with a man at a desk at the end.  Just as quickly as he appears in this strange place, Toyohisa quickly finds himself in another strange new world, but with some not

Pokemon Sun and Moon Update II: It’s Almost Here Folks!

Image
Greetings, earthlings!  Are you ready to catch the latest copy of Pokémon Sun and Moon ?  Well, much like the upcoming election in choosing between Hilary Clinton or Donald Trump, I’m still not sure.  But since my last update, a lot of new details about the games have been released.  Everything from the starter evolutions, to the bad guys, and of course, all the new Pokémon, there’s no shortage of information to share!  Granted, for this update, I’ll strictly be covering the game’s plot and the starter Pokémon’s’ evolutions-since they’re probably the most talked about, the latter in particular.  So without further adieu, let’s talk about some of the latest updates for Pokémon Sun and Moon ! The Starters Alright, so being that this has been an especially exciting piece of Pokémon news, I figured I’d start here.  And I’ll start off by saying YES PEOPLE!  THE LEAKS WERE NOT A LIE! The rumored link that revealed the final starters If any of you remember my last update, I

Character of the Month of October: Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama

Image
Greetings, one and all!  Halloween comes tomorrow, which means the end of October and the unveiling of this month’s Character of the Month!  Now I know that this month has been a little sparse in reviews, to no fault of my own, but rest assured this month’s character was a good one.  Trust me!  So enough of me rambling and let’s talk about October’s Character of the Month, Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama from Mob Psycho 100 . So since I reviewed Mob Psycho 100 last week, I’ll be as brief as I can here.  Shigeo Kageyama, also known as Mob, appears to be like any other middle school student.  However, past his dull expression and ordinary appearance, Mob is actually a powerful psychic.  And when he’s not being a middle school student, he’s performing exorcisms with his mentor Reigen, a self-proclaimed psychic who is actually a con man with no powers whatsoever. Thinking about Mob as a character, he comes off as not being all that special-minus the psychic powers.  But really, that normalc

Hey there everybody!  I’m (finally) back after a two week absence with a new review!  But before I get to that, I do want to apologize for last week’s no show.  However, it was a family-related incident and had no control over it.  Anyways, about this week’s review…I was actually planning on doing this show next month, but I’ve been following it pretty well for some time now…plus there’s ghosts in it.  That’s horror related, right?  And ghosts have been the thing since the Ghostbusters reboot, right?  I mean the title for this week’s post is a hats off to it!  So enough of me going on and let’s get on with this week’s review of Mob Psycho 100 ! This action-packed comedy follows Shigeo “Mob” Kageyama, a dull and average looking middle school student.  However, past his emotionless expression, Mob is actually a powerful  psychic who has to keep his emotions and abilities in check, lest he loses control.  These abilities land him a job working as an assistant exorcist to Reigen.  And

Serving Up Some Vampire Madness: Servamp

Greetings, one and all!  October is here, and that means Halloween is near!  And that also means a month full of horror anime!  This week’s pick is actually one of the newest shows to hit the summer block this year.  And while it may not be what I think of when horror anime comes to mind in my opinion, it is chock full of vampires! So without further adieu, let’s get started on this week’s review of Servamp ! Mahiru Shirota lived a pretty simple life as a high school student.  That is, until he came across a black cat he decides to keep and name Kuro.  Only keeping him for a short time, Mahiru learns that Kuro is actually a vampire.  More specifically, he is one of the original vampires-called Servamps- known as Sleepy Ash.  Mahiru also learns that by giving him a name, he and Kuro have formed a temporary contract-to make it full, Kuro would have to drink Mahiru’s blood.  This later happens when one of Mahiru’s friends is attacked by a vampire and Mahiru decides to fight back.  Aft

Characters of the Month of September?

O.K., I’ve been doing some thinking.  I had a hard time trying to pick this month’s Character of the Month.  There were a few good characters that hadn’t already won the title that I really loved. It was so hard to choose!  So, after some long, hard thinking, I decided to pick all of them (hey, this is my month of favorites and it is my blog, so I think I’m entitled to call most of the shots here)!  This month, the title will be shared by three characters!  That is, one of each from the three posts in my event of favorite characters.  And those characters are… Cynthia ( Pokemon franchise) The Major ( Hellsing Ultimate ) Sesshomaru ( Inuyasha ) And since I’ve already explained why I like these characters so much in all three of my posts, I think I’ll skip that part and end this week’s post here (I know, it’s a really short post, but still, I don’t have any more that I could say).  So congratulations Cynthia, the Major, and Sesshomaru, cause you’re all Hanime on

My Favorites in Anime: Characters-Anti-Heroes and Rivals

Image
Howdy, howdy folks!  Welcome to the third part of my month full of favorite characters!  Thus far, if you’ve been following this event this long, you’ve seen good guys and bad guys alike.  But what about those guys who go both ways?  There are some guys and girls in anime who act like villains but are actually the good guys.  There are also other characters that are not necessarily evil, but they often butt heads with the protagonist.  That’s right!  This week, I’m talking about anti-heroes and rivals!  And unlike last week’s list, this week’s post was by far the longest.  So without further ado, let’s talk about my favorite anti-heroes and rivals, starting off with anti-heroes! (WARNING: O.K., if you’ve come this far, you know there will be spoilers.)   Anti-Heroes Tetsuo Shima ( Akira ) Ok, if you’ve been following my blog since February of 2015, you knew this guy was coming.  If I could describe how much I love Tetsuo, let’s just say that if I ranked all of my f

My Favorites in Anime: Characters-Villains

Greetings, one and all!  Welcome to week 2 of my Month of Favorite Characters!  This week’s list of characters is actually a very short one.  It has only two characters-you heard me.  But let me just say these two are some of my all time favorites and could not think of any better characters (at least for this week)!  Anyways, this week covers the dark side of anime- and no, not tentacle-related hentai!  I’m talking about characters who are just plain bad.  That’s right!  I’m talking about villains!  And come to think of it, these two characters in particular are not only some of the smartest villains in anime (according to WatchMojo.com ), but I’ve actually featured them in a previous post back in 2014.  So enough build up and let’s talk about my two favorite villains! (WARNING, again: This post contains spoilers!) The Major ( Hellsing Ultimate ) First up is everyone’s favorite Nazi in anime, the Major!  What can’t I say about this guy?  Well it’s probably not that big

My Favorites in Anime: Characters-Heroes

Image
Howdy, howdy folks!  Today kicks off my special event for September with a month full of my favorite characters!  You see them at the forefront of all anime shows kicking butt, causing drama, and whatever else moves the plot along.  Who am I talking about? I’m talking about the protagonist, or simply put, the hero.  To start off my Favorite Characters month, this week I’ll be talking about some of my favorite heroes and one major supporting character in anime- I know that supporting character thing was random, but believe me, she’s pretty awesome!  (WARNING: This post contains spoilers!) Vash the Stampede ( Trigun ) Starting off my list of favorite heroes is the $$60,000,000,000.00 man himself.  Among the characters featured for this week, if not the whole month, Vash is pretty unique.  When I named Vash as my Character of the Month for November of 2014, I said that Vash was dynamic in that he played several different parts in Trigun .  Not only does he play the determi

Character of the Month: Aqours

Greetings, one and all!  I’m back from what’s probably been a really crazy week.  And this month’s pick for Character of the Month is just as crazy. I had a hard time picking who would nab the title, and ended up coming to this.  It’s not unheard of picking more than one character for Character of the Month.  But this time around, I added a few more…like seven or eight.  Yep, I’ll just come right out with it; this month’s is the entire group Aqours from Love Live! Sunshine! I’ll be brief with the synopsis because I reviewed this show just last week:  Chika Takami wants nothing more than to start a school idol group at her school after watching a performance by μ’s.  While she is able to collect a modest group of girls to participate, the opportunity to further enhance the club comes around when the group learns that their school will be closing down.  Faced with a similar situation as the gang from the original Love Live! had to face, Aqours-as they are now called-must perfect th

Howdy, howdy, folks!  I’m back this week with fresh new review on one of the summer’s latest releases.  But before I begin, I do want to apologize again to those who missed me last week.  I’ve had some family issues going on lately-which I will keep private, but family members reading this will know what I’m talking about-, and going through this difficult time has made an impact on me.  While drudging through the rain can be miserable, eventually the clouds will part and let the sun shine through.  Enough said there.  Speaking of sunshine, this week’s review is on a spin-off of an all too familiar show with singing high school girls in flashy short skirts.  That’s right!   This week I’ll be looking at Love Live! Sunshine !  This series hasn’t been out for too long, so there aren’t a whole lot of episodes currently out.  But what I know so far is this: set in a coastal Japanese town, Chika Takami is hell-bent on starting a school idol group at Uranohoshi Girl’s Academy.  Inspired

No Post Today :(

Hi, everyone!  If you haven't noticed already, there will be no post today.  I had an important family event going on, so that took priority today.  I will have a new post next Sunday.  Sorry this was late, and be sure to stay tuned for next Sunday! -Hanime on Anime

Boom Boom Wow!: Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings

Image
Greetings, one and all!  I have returned well relaxed and in pretty good spirits this weekend with a new review.  Granted, this week’s review is on an older show, but I finished it earlier this summer and have been a little obsessed with it since then.  So why not?  After all, this is my blog.  Anywho, let’s jump right into this week’s review of Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings ! Sengoku Basara takes place in, as the name implies, the Sengoku period.  In this time of Japan’s history, the country was divided by feudal nations run by powerful warlords.  However, the country often found itself in a state of chaos with these warlords fighting each other constantly.  That’s the historical background of the show-as well as the video game that inspired the series.  The two generals that the show primarily follows are the One-Eyed Dragon of Oshu, Date Masamune, and Sanada Yukimura, the Tiger Cub of Kai.  Both seasons of the series have these as well as other generals face different villain

Character of the Month of July: Ikoma

Image
Greetings, one and all!  The unveiling of Character of the Month comes early this month-I’ll explain later-, but it was definitely for a note worthy character.  I saw this guy and I thought that’s it !  Ironically though, he was in one of my harshest reviews this month-if not the whole year.  Yeah, I think you know who I’m talking about now.  So enough of the details and let’s talk about this month’s Character of the Month, Ikoma from Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress ! Ikoma starts off in the series as a mechanical engineer in a gated-off town.  In his world, the human race is threatened by the Kabane, man-eating creatures that spread a zombiesque virus that mutates any surviving human bitten by one.  When Ikoma’s town is attacked, he himself is attacked and bitten by a Kabane, but is able to stop the spread of the virus and survive.  This turns him into a hybrid mix of human and Kabane called a Kabaneri.  He also kills the Kabane off by using a new weapon he had developed.  Now in
