Character of the Month of July: Ikoma

Image
Greetings, one and all!  The unveiling of Character of the Month comes early this month-I’ll explain later-, but it was definitely for a note worthy character.  I saw this guy and I thought that’s it !  Ironically though, he was in one of my harshest reviews this month-if not the whole year.  Yeah, I think you know who I’m talking about now.  So enough of the details and let’s talk about this month’s Character of the Month, Ikoma from Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress ! Ikoma starts off in the series as a mechanical engineer in a gated-off town.  In his world, the human race is threatened by the Kabane, man-eating creatures that spread a zombiesque virus that mutates any surviving human bitten by one.  When Ikoma’s town is attacked, he himself is attacked and bitten by a Kabane, but is able to stop the spread of the virus and survive.  This turns him into a hybrid mix of human and Kabane called a Kabaneri.  He also kills the Kabane off by ...

Pokémon Sun and Moon Update: What We Know So Far

Hello, fabulous people of the Internet!  This week I decided to change things up with a post on something that I don’t typically talk about on Hanime on Anime all that much.  And I say that for two reasons.  First, this is on a video game, and unless you’re new here, I don’t typically talk about video games.  Second, it involves Pokémon, something I’m too ashamed to talk about on Hanime on Anime-the anime, not the video game.  Despite that, the Pokémon franchise has been getting a lot of press lately, especially with celebration of its twentieth anniversary and the hype from Pokémon Go recently.  But no, this post doesn’t talk about any of that.  I’ll actually be talking about one of the franchise’s other most talk about game this year: Pokémon Sun and Moon !  Over the past few months since the game was announced, new details about the game’s plot, setting, characters, and Pokémon have been released.  Today, this post is going to talk abou...

Sharing Pain is Caring: Kiznaiver

Image
Howdy, howdy folks!  I’m back this week alive and kicking with a new review!  On the chopping block is another show from the spring season from budding studio Trigger.  Yep, mention that word and you pretty much know what this week’s review is on.  So let’s get started with this week’s review on Kiznaiver ! Throughout all of his life-all of which he can remember anyway- Katsuhira is unable to feel pain.  This has constantly made him a target for bullying.  But one day, he meets a girl named Sonozaki and everything changes.  After suffering a near fatal accident, he is taken to a secret organization along with five other people.  Sonozaki reveals that the town they live in, Sugomori City, is actually an experimental site for a massive project called the Kizna System.  In the process of this Katsuhira and five other students were chosen and underwent a surgery that causes all of them to feel each other’s pain physically and –later on- em...

Attack on Kabaneri?: Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

Image
Greetings, folks!  I’m back from my vacation last week safe and sunburned.  I’m also back for the first Sunday of July with a fresh new review on one of the biggest hits of the 2016 spring season.  And let me just say, this week’s pick was interesting, and not in the good way.  But more on that later.  For now, let’s get started on this week’s review of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress ! In the world of Kabaneri , the Kabane are terrifying creatures that have pushed humanity to its limits.  This has forced the surviving humans to barricade themselves in walled cities-wait, why does this sound familiar?  Their only contact with the outside world is the railroads.  Main protagonist Ikoma once lived in the Argane Station as a mechanical engineer.  But that all changed when the Kabane attacked the station.  Ikoma himself is attacked by a Kabane, but is able to stop the spread of the undead monster’s virus and survive, becoming a hybrid kn...
