Flashback February’s Character of the Month: Motoko Kusanagi

Greetings, devote readers!  Flashback February 2017 has come to an end, and that means it’s time to reveal Flashback February’s Character of the Month!  And let’s face it, this month’s character was a given.  I really don’t need to say more.  So let’s get on and talk about this month’s Character: Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell (and yes, I’ve finally realize I’ve been saying her name wrong all this time, oops.) Ok, so I’m actually going to skip the synopsis of Ghost in the Shell because it’s pretty much a household name in anime.  Plus, Motoko is a pretty well known character in anime anyways.  So I’m pretty sure most anime fans and otakus know who she is without me giving a synopsis.  Besides, it’s the reason why I chose her that I really want to talk about.  Speaking of which, where do I begin?  Well, if nothing else, I can start with Motoko’s central role in the film’s discussion.  It’s a focal point in the film, and ...

No Post Today!...But...

Hello, everyone!  If you've been keeping up with the Flashback February events so far, today I was supposed to do my first Live Video Response.  Obviously, that's not happening today.  If you live in the southern U.S. like I do, the flu has been rampant.  While I'm hoping that this is not what's going on, but I have come down with something-fingers crossed it's strep or a sinus infection.  And while there really should be no reason not to continue with the post as scheduled and I have no problem doing it while sick, I feel that it's best that I relax and try to get better. However, giving this matter some thought, I have decided to do two weeks of posts with nothing but Live Reactions.  Truth be told, I felt like watching a countdown of the top ten sci-fi anime was not a great way to introduce this new segment to Hanime on Anime.  Plus, I need some time to experiment with software to make the reaction possible. Still, this was just one of the many re...

Worst/Best Captain Ever?: The Irresponsible Captain Tylor

Image
Greetings, fellow citizens of the Internet!  Valentine’s Day may be around the corner, but that won’t stop me from doing part two of Flashback February.  I couldn’t give enough love to this show-you’ll get what I mean a little later-, but I did what I could to give it one heck of a review!  So enough of the chit-chat and let’s get on with this week’s review on The Irresponsible Captain Tylor ! In this sci-fi action/comedy, twenty year-old Justy Ueki Tylor (or simply referred to as Tylor) has no idea what to do with his life.  He goes to the United Planets Space Force to find work.  But after getting involved in a hostage situation with a high ranking officer, he gets lucky-ish and obtains command of a destroyer called the Soyokaze.  What makes it lucky-ish is that the Soyokaze is considered to be the dumping ground of the United Planets Space Force in terms of crew members.  But it doesn’t take long for the rag-tag crew to get involved with the Raal...

A Fan after All: Ghost in the Shell

Greetings, fellow beings of the Internet!  Today may kick off the Superbowl for you American readers, but it also kicks off Flashback February of 2017!  And right out of the gates, I’ve got one of my finest reviews yet.  Why?  Cause this week, I’ll be reviewing one of the greatest anime classics of all time.  Granted, if you watched my announcement video, you probably already know what this classic is.  So enough talking and let’s get to this week’s review on Ghost in the Shell ! In the year 2029, humanity has come of age, if you could call it humanity anymore.  Most people at this time are either cyborgs or contain some machinery inside them.  Major Mokoto Kusanagi, an officer for Sector Nine, is a cyborg.  As one of the top officers of Sector Nine, Mokoto is tasked with taking down cyber criminals and terrorists, but often questions her humanity.  Things become more complicated when she encounters the Puppet Master.  Although b...
