The New Hanime on Anime is Here!

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!  The end of 2017 is here, and with that end comes a new beginning in a brand new year.  And with the new year, Hanime on Anime has returned with some new changes.  As stated in my last post, I took a month long hiatus to not only get a little break, but to also make some changes to Hanime on Anime.  And for this special post, I’m going to talk about all those new changes!
First, if you haven’t already noticed, I’ve made some changes to the site’s overall design.  Being up and running for three years, it was time the site itself got a facelift.  But while everything looks all nice and new, I had some issues in fixing the “About Hanime on Anime” page.  So some portions of the site are still a work in progress.
Second, after giving it some thought and consideration, I’ve decided to permanently add a new segment to my monthly line up.  Believe it or not, my top three most popular posts on Hanime on Anime are discussion posts.  Based on that, I decided to make these special posts more frequently.  Starting in January, a new segment called Talkative Thursdays will now become a regular part of the Hanime on Anime schedule; one or two Thursdays out of the month, I will do an editorial post of some sort.  Many of you might remember this segment from earlier this summer as something new for the blog, but unfortunately due to time restraints, this did not last very long.  The posts featured will include countdowns, discussion posts, or any major breaking news or reactions that are anime-related.  However, most of these posts will be, well, regular posts (aka, no videos).  This decision was made based on the time restraints of my current work schedule as that has been changing pretty frequently over the past few weeks.  So for now, much of the first several Talkative Thursday segments will be typed.
Finally, the last few changes I’ve made actually involve some new traditions, particularly with my annual Character of the Year Award.  Many of you know that at the beginning of every new year, I pick a character out of lineup of twelve characters that stood out in all of the shows that I reviewed that year.  But back in 2016, I recognized an anime couple.  Well, that now has become a permanent part of the Character of the Year award post called Hanime on Anime’s Dynamic Duo.  This recognition will not only look at couples, but partners, siblings, and the best of friends.  This decision came about not only because it was done a previous year, but also because this year’s character was pretty unique (consider that a spoiler for tomorrow’s post! ;) ).
Another set of recognitions now happening in the Character of the Year Awards is the Starred Reviews.  For this portion, I looked back at all of the shows and films I reviewed in the past year and picked the ones that I particularly liked and/or want to discuss in further detail.  And yes, these discussions will be a part of the Talkative Thursday, whether it’s discussing the best or worst moments from the show or film, or found some elements and aspects of the show that deserve to be talked about a little more.  I’ve also decided to look back on the three years of reviews and choose Starred Reviews from those years as well.  There will be no limit on the shows selected, but not all of them may be featured in any of the Talkative Thursday segment.  A list of these reviews will be announced at a later date.
And so, that ends this special post and return!  I know there weren’t that many changes made, but trust me when I say that a lot of thought and work went into these decisions.  Hopefully you all, my readers, will appreciate them.  Be sure to stay tuned tomorrow when I not only reveal my Character of 2017, but also my Dynamic Duo and Starred Reviews of 2017!
