The New Hanime on Anime is Here!

Image
Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!  The end of 2017 is here, and with that end comes a new beginning in a brand new year.  And with the new year, Hanime on Anime has returned with some new changes.  As stated in my last post, I took a month long hiatus to not only get a little break, but to also make some changes to Hanime on Anime.  And for this special post, I’m going to talk about all those new changes! First, if you haven’t already noticed, I’ve made some changes to the site’s overall design.  Being up and running for three years, it was time the site itself got a facelift.  But while everything looks all nice and new, I had some issues in fixing the “About Hanime on Anime” page.  So some portions of the site are still a work in progress.    Second, after giving it some thought and consideration, I’ve decided to permanently add a new segment to my monthly line up.  Believe it or not, my top three most popular posts on Hanime on ...

Last Post of 2017?!

Greetings, fabulous peoples of the Internet!  Well, I think you guys can guess what this is about.  But if you haven’t read the title already, then I’ll enlighten you: yes, this may very well be the last post of 2017.  While going on a month long hiatus sounds bad, it’s actually for some pretty good reasons.  I’ve gone on with friends and family that 2017 was a rough year for me emotionally, mostly because of my broken engagement earlier this year.  Even so, 2017 was actually a great year in other regards like my academics and career as a librarian.  Having recently gotten a promotion and nearing the end of my graduate studies, things have gotten a little hectic and busy, especially in the past several months with school.  So part of this little hiatus is in fact a little break to catch my breath.  But the biggest reason for this hiatus is to work on Hanime on Anime itself. First, I’ve given a lot of thought into expanding my blog into other are...

Character of the Month of Novembflix: Meliodas

Image
Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!  Welcome back to the final portion of Novembflix, and the end of the month of November.  My first attempt at this new event was interesting in the sense that the shows were, well, interesting-and maybe not in the best of ways.  Still, of all the shows I reviewed, there was one character from this event that I absolutely adored; so this month’s pick was pretty easy.  So, let’s not stall anymore and talk about this month’s character of the month: Meliodas from The Seven Deadly Sins. In the fantasy world of Britannia, Meliodas serves as the leader of a group of elite Holy Knights turned outlaws called the Seven Deadly Sins.  Ten years after the group is accused of treason and disbanded, Princess Elizabeth of the Liones family finds Meliodas as the owner of a traveling bar.  Elizabeth convinces him to find the other members of the Sins and stop the Order of the Holy Knights from starting an all out war. Good Lord, Meliod...

To Infinity and Beyond Confusing: Knights of Sidonia

Image
Greetings, fabulous peoples of the Internet!  I’m back this week with the final part of Novembflix!  This week’s review was…interesting.  In fact, I think I’m still scratching my head at what I watched.  Granted, you guys know what this week’s show is, so there really isn’t any reason to beat around the bush.  So let’s get into this week’s review on Knights of Sidonia ! In a far distant future, the remnants of humanity live on a gigantic shuttle in the middle of space called Sidonia .  The series opens up with the apprehension of boy named Nagate Tanikaze after he is caught trying to steal rice.  As it turns out, Nagate had been living a under a rock for quite sometime; humanity has not only thrived but evolved, now having the capability to go one week without eating.  However, the residents of Sidonia suddenly come under threat when a massive space-dwelling creature called the Gauna is awakened and attacks.  With the Sidonia now in dan...

The Shonen of Netflix: The Seven Deadly Sins

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen!  Welcome back to part two of Novembflix!  This week I took a break from witches, but still decided to keep the fantasy theme going with this week’s show.  I had already heard quite a lot about this show before watching it, so had pretty high hopes for it.  And while I wasn’t able to get too far into season one, what I was able to watch was…well…let’s just start the review and you’ll see what I mean.  Speaking of, let’s talk about The Seven Deadly Sins . In the world of Britannia, a fantasy world where humans and creatures coexist, a sanction of knights known as the Seven Deadly Sins are wanted for plotting against the Liones Kingdom.  Ten years after their disbandment, one Princess Elizabeth is in search of them to stop the Holy Knights from starting an all-out war.  But in an unexpected stop at a bar, she finds the leader of the Seven Deadly Sins Meliodas, the sin of wrath.  After escaping a scuffle with some ...

Something Cute this Way Comes: Little Witch Academia

Image
Greetings, fabulous peoples!   November is here and that means its time for the first review of Novembflix!  If you missed my post last week, Novembflix is a new event that I’m doing for the month of November where I review shows exclusively found on Netflix.  And this week’s show, I’ll admit, was one that I should have reviewed last month-even though it’s not a horror anime.  And if you picked up on the same title I used for my review on 18if , then you know this week’s review is on one witchy show in particular.  So, since I’ve given that much away, let’s jump right into this week’s review on Little Witch Academia . Ever since she was a little girl, Atsuko Kagari, mostly known as Akko, has always wanted to become a witch like her idol Shiny Chariot.  She goes on to attend Luna Nova Academy, a school for witches, to learn all about magic so she can become just like Charitot.  However, she finds that learning magic is a lot more difficult th...

Character of the Month of October…or not?

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen of the Internet!  I’m back from my two week hiatus, and I certainly needed it.  The past two weeks have been busy, but it’s nice to be able to sit down and post once again.  Though this week I feel like I’m dropping the ball a little bit.  And that’s been mostly with Character of the Month.  What do I mean by this?  Put bluntly, this Month’s Character of the Month is Trevor Belmont from Castlevania . Yeah, I know, Trevor is not an anime character, but I honestly thought that 18if was a pretty weak show for this month and could have been outdone with a number of other shows.  But I couldn’t help it; Trevor is just so awesome!  He’s lovable and awesome as a drunken traveler and even more so sober.  There’s just something about his wise-cracking attitude that just draws you in.  And when he starts to get more serious as the series progresses, he just becomes all the more lovable.  Trevor was just s...
